Industry leaders launch Hard Hat Courage

Hard Hat Courage is a new industry-wide effort to make it safe to talk about mental health on every jobsite.

It was launched by the CEO Advisory Council, where CEO Rick Lanoha is a founding member alongside other national construction leaders. The effort brings more tools, resources and open conversations to the field. It encourages treating mental health with the same importance as physical safety.

At hardhatcourage.com, you’ll find toolbox talks, training materials, crisis contacts and real stories from people in construction who have spoken up about their own mental health.

Know the signs

Our goal is to foster open conversations about mental health and highlight the distinct challenges construction workers face, which can contribute to the risk of suicide. With one in five adults experiencing mental health issues annually, it’s important to talk openly and support those in need. By recognizing the signs of suicide, we can help create a safer, more supportive workplace and potentially save lives.

Warning signs can be subtle and vary from person to person.
